India’s competition regulator, the Competition Commission of India (CCI), has dismissed a complaint alleging abuse of dominant position by BookMyShow, the country’s largest online ticketing platform. The decision brings relief to the Mumbai-based company, which has long been a major player in the digital ticket booking space for movies, events, and entertainment experiences.
The complaint had accused BookMyShow of leveraging its dominant market position to impose unfair conditions on cinema owners and consumers. However, after reviewing the allegations and available evidence, the CCI concluded that there was insufficient material to establish a prima facie case of anti-competitive behavior.
