In a significant development in India’s fintech ecosystem, Chinese technology conglomerate Tencent has offloaded shares worth approximately ₹695 crore in PB Fintech, the parent company of insurance marketplace Policybazaar and credit platform Paisabazaar. The transaction was executed through a block deal on Indian stock exchanges, drawing attention from investors and market analysts who are closely watching foreign investors’ evolving stance on Indian startups.
The sale marks another step in the gradual reduction of Tencent’s stake in Indian technology firms, a trend that has accelerated in recent years amid regulatory scrutiny and shifting investment priorities.
