In a significant stride toward bridging the digital divide, the Maharashtra government has entered into a Letter of Intent (LoI) with Starlink Satellite Communications — the satellite-internet arm of Elon Musk’s ventures — to deploy high-speed satellite internet and communication services across remote and underserved regions of the state.
With this agreement, Maharashtra becomes the first state in India to formally partner with Starlink for such a satellite-based connectivity initiative — something that state leadership has described as “a giant leap” towards building a future-ready infrastructure.
